Oinky's comment/story about the incident which he witnessed at the MRT station. Much more at supposedly "people with authority" who didn't do anything about it, and who wouldn't do anything about it. It's too bad that laws on Domestic Violence/Child Abuse aren't strictly imposed in the Philippines. Had this taken place here in the U.S., those 2 adults hitting the child would have been arrested in a heartbeat! Shame on them! There are so many ways to discipline but hitting, screaming at them, and cussing them out will not only scar them emotionally and mentally, it won't teach them anything. It won't correct any bad behaviors. And if anything, it will only teach them to become abusive as well. ...full circle. I hope and pray these child abusers/molesters think hard and grow a conscience, and see what effects their actions bring. I bet these people were hit and abused too when they were children. BUT then , IF you as a child went thru the same things and know how painful it is to be in such a situation, then wouldn't you want the world to be a better place and, in your own little way, make sure that others don't go through the same thing you had to go thru.
I can only hope and pray these abusers rise above the situation and be "the better man".
That's all.MPChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14809762741209021708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-76455615082343850692008-07-30T09:40:00.000-04:002008-07-30T09:40:00.000-04:00Child abuse is common here, sad to say.Even kids f...Child abuse is common here, sad to say.

Even kids from good and well-educated families are spanked (or what have you) for "disciplinary purposes".

Anyone who'd deny this is a hypocrite.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-65479019950800153622008-07-30T04:49:00.000-04:002008-07-30T04:49:00.000-04:00Yes, unfortunate as it was, I saw 2 people do this...Yes, unfortunate as it was, I saw 2 people do this to a defenseless child.

I was waiting for my friend whom I was meeting at the Buendia/Edsa MRT station in Makati at 1pm. I arrived a little early so I decided to look around and wait there for a bit. At around 12:45pm I noticed that there was a commotion inside the air-conditioned booth (command center I suppose), this was the booth after entering the station just before the escalators.

I saw 3 people; someone seated whose back was turned to me, a man in white polo and slacks and a radio, and a woman right behind the man in the white polo. The guy looked like he was slapping and punching the one who was seated. I then though it must be the employees horse playing. Then the person in the seat turned around and it was a boy...he looked to be under 10 years of age, he had like a bimpo on his back half-tucked in his shirt, put there to absorb sweat I suppose.

I was in shock coz I noticed that the man, was hitting the child! I thought at 1st it could be a parent disciplining the child coz he was rowdy, and it could be none of my business. But then the saw the child cry, I could help myself so I observed further. The lady in the back stood between the man and the boy as if to intercede. She sat the boy down in a chair right next to the 1st chair the child was sitting on and wiped his tears and saying something. To my horror, the lady hit the boy in the face several times! And as if that was not enough the lady hit the child with her palm while the child was covered with the cloth she was using to wipe the tears with.

It was then I though that this wasn't right. As I began to dial my father’s number (to seek advice) more bad things happened. The child tried to hug the lady (maybe his ate aunt or mother) and the lady kept pushing the child away. The child was still crying, the man then man handled the boy, slapping and grabbing the poor lad and then dangled him by his two arms before slamming him on a seat.

I could not contain myself, I wanted to charge at the f*cker. As I was trying to get in, I saw a policeman at the MRT helpdesk. I pointed out what was happening, the 2 f*ckers inside the booth noticed me finally, I protested with a loud voice which also got their attention of everyone. They all looked at the booth. The 2 suddenly stopped abusing the boy and the lady dragged the boy out of the booth. The guy suddenly sat down and pretended like nothing was happening.

The cop simply got up and looked, he went near the gate. The cop SAW what happened and did nothing. The guard recognized him and said he was a supervisor. I asked for the name and the guard pretended not to know the name.

I later got in touch with my dad and told me to report it to the main office. When I got in touch with the police precinct they said it was already too late for them to do anything. This was the only time I forgot to bring my camera, damn!

i have reported this person to the authorities, i will get in touch with the local child protection services to follow up on the case.Sgt Oinkyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00372216150763356509noreply@blogger.com
