I compare them with the present Manila and sad to say we have lost alot of these buildings thanks to the intensive bombing of the Allied Forces during the WWII ( whose intentions are still questionable per historian Renato Constantino). It doesnt help also that we dont have much sense of history as a people, we tore down old building with frenzy to give way to new ones. What a loss.

By the way I'll take the chance to say that I am a regular reader of your blog. Though I dont move in this circles ( I'm a plain hoipoloi who happens to have my own Wi Fi ) and I only learned about the existence of these characters in your blog, I find these events/ incidents fascinating.

Its also interesting how your blog as moved to encompass other issues such as Gay rights and equality. I appreciate your support for Gay Rights and justice.

Good luck Brian!

FireladyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-85799763479810426832008-06-24T08:04:00.000-04:002008-06-24T08:04:00.000-04:00hell manila..home of the squATTERS AREA..i prefer ...hell manila..home of the squATTERS AREA..i prefer to stay in BACOLOD CITY well organized and highly urbanized city.cleanest and greenest city in the philippines... very peaceful and there is no " BAHA"heheh
home of the masskara festival...festival representative of the philippines to the WORLD..

GO BACOLOD CITY!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-28076440629738064632008-06-24T05:40:00.000-04:002008-06-24T05:40:00.000-04:00Dont you notice that Manila was so clean. Yuk, tod...Dont you notice that Manila was so clean. Yuk, today it looks like a pig pen. That is why people like to settle in Bacolod or Davao. Manila save for the malls, commercial establishments and organized developments today is a living hell. Garbage is everywhere. There is no discipline. So dirty, people are unkempt. Yukky. Tondo today is living hell.

Manila yesterday was BEAUTIFUL straight out of a Ernest Hemingway novel. Today it is LIVING HELL. Big contributing factors are poverty and over-population.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-90058052512151694962008-06-24T03:14:00.000-04:002008-06-24T03:14:00.000-04:00So sad to see that much of the buildings and house...So sad to see that much of the buildings and houses of old Manila are now all gone- none of them have been preserved.
The Pasig river is now nothing but a filthy disease-filled river.
