Undeniably, gays are part of the Philippine Society (they were known as babaylans then) - BUT AS PART OF THE SUPPORT SYSTEM!

Women have been considered the weaker sex and have to prove theirselves - and thus, they usually suceed, being better in academics and other pursuits. Men, the straight ones, became threatened. Their numbers dwindled, when a portion realized and accepted their gayhood. Likewise, the gays have to prove theirselves - thus excelling in school and other pursuits, further alienating the so called straight guys to the back ground.

Now, a touch of gay were usually added to advertising for the impact, it makes the ad successful in terms of recognition and recall. This AD is different - it recognizes that there is a pink market out there! The truth of the AD - pinks are here and pinks would stay. And it is that truth that the straight so called moralist find offensive. They are offended by the current truth.Bert Baltazarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09910511343893098512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-3316607784943116362010-01-16T02:36:31.532-05:002010-01-16T02:36:31.532-05:00a very good lesson about acceptance, and accepting...a very good lesson about acceptance, and accepting who we are.

thanks for sharing, b :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-89644929596175220752010-01-16T02:32:00.440-05:002010-01-16T02:32:00.440-05:00nah, i think mojo is perfect for that ad, anon 931...nah, i think mojo is perfect for that ad, anon 931. and it isn't an ad about fitness so...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-65512075899505567322010-01-16T01:23:30.338-05:002010-01-16T01:23:30.338-05:00Just read your shout out for you dear Mum, Just wa...Just read your shout out for you dear Mum, Just want you to know, you are in deed one of the sweetest person I have ever encountered. Why did Comelec invent wobbly religious and gender grounds to oust Ang Ladlad, which espouses gay rights, from the party-list election? Having reaffirmed this dubious verdict, the entire Commission now risks an embarrassing reversal by the Supreme Court (as it did in the deadline for voter registration). Of the many reasons to deny accreditation, why did Comelec choose the flimsiest?

http://opinion.inquirer.net/inquireropinion/columns/view/20100109-246449/Squandering-the-peoples-trustAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-57818871773006120522010-01-13T13:25:23.471-05:002010-01-13T13:25:23.471-05:00The image of Mojo itself is not at all controversi...The image of Mojo itself is not at all controversial as far as I'm concerned. Although I do think they made him look far too white. We all know Mojo is adorable and although he is a lighter skinned Filipino, he is not Casper the Ghost!

The comments and thoughts written here are so fantastic to read this morning. I've always felt that common sense usually/normally prevails in the Philippines... eventually. The good thinking people here will always succeed over the haters/homophobes/Catholic majority who continue to oppress fringe groups all over the country and all over the world.

Everyone knows I abhor skin whitening creams, bleaches and pills. And Mojo also knows that as we have discussed this.

Quick story-

I have a friend who has (had) a friend.
This guy became sooo addicted to skin whitening "pills". He took them for two years in combination with skin bleach and every other toxic "medication" to make him whiter. You see, this guy had a dream I was told.
He wanted a boyfriend in any other country but the Philippines and tried to find him on line. And he thought his cnances were greater the lighter he was.
He had dreams of meeting a guy who would "take him away" from the Philippines and away from a VERY unhappy home where his gay "disorder" became all to obsessed upon by his family and Lola who was especially harsh to him. They also PRAYED for a CURE sometimes in front of him.
He was convinced the pills and creams were working (but my friend said they were only damaging his liver) as he became addicted to taking them. Even after developing a rash, he continued to use them thinking it must be from something else. It WAS something else.

He because sick with HIV for the first time and the devastation hit him hard because he had zero support at home. His friends were not allowed to visit him in hospital due to the shame their parents felt the need to project onto their son who already had far too much to deal with). My friend feared his mate would kill himself.

He was in the hospital for weeks and during that time he developed a infection or skin condition which made him very dark once again.

Like I said, his folks would NOT allow people to see him and told others he had TB and needed isolation.
Not true. He was cero converting with HIV/AIDS and he needed his friends more than any other time in his life.
He needed love and hugs and kisses from his mummy and Lola.
NOT gloves and fear and religious condemnation which he DID received by the bucket full.

Anyways, he killed himself by slashing his wrist and his neck in the hospital. His parents found him drenched in his blood still warm.
His friends never saw him again.
He died alone, the exact same color he was when he was born.
BROWN and BEAUTIFUL.

Self esteem is so important in life.
This guy died searching for some acceptance and love, understanding and compassionate consideration for his predicament. He killed himself thinking whiter was better. Death was better then his parents rejection.

His death was a dark death that we all need to consider and today we should all take a moment to enjoy whatever color we are today.
I'm feeling very yellow today.
Yesterday I was feeling very orange.
It's not black, brown or white.
Life is a rainbow and so are we.

I lost my train of thought a bit.
I'm very emotional.
You get my point I hope.

BrianBrian Shanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03391541455404597776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-53196128628685824452010-01-13T12:41:02.117-05:002010-01-13T12:41:02.117-05:00This is stupid The country has MUCH bigger issues ...This is stupid The country has MUCH bigger issues to deal withBrian Shanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03391541455404597776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-8330545937015755542010-01-13T05:57:47.317-05:002010-01-13T05:57:47.317-05:00Abdulrahim Janjalani is idiocy personified.Abdulrahim Janjalani is idiocy personified.Fidel Antonio Medelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11348855711977865531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510366480931064584.post-82696976044397789442010-01-13T01:39:55.357-05:002010-01-13T01:39:55.357-05:00Are we in Taliban controlled territory or what?
