In 1977 I got LEGO and as you can see we were all looking very happy indeed.

Christmas morning with my parents, sister and brother was always a fantastic time.

Like millions of others I really loved Christmas morning as a kid and I still love Christmas.

Here's a sweet Australian ad for—well, I don't want to ruin the surprise (you will probably be able to guess what's going to happen anyway). I love Australia and being Australian but I am also furious with our current Prime Minister Julia Gillard who instead of being a trail blazer keen to help usher in the reality of gay marriage in Australia, she turned her back on our community (who voted for her) and we will never forgive the Prime Minister for that. However, Australians being the resilient and determined people that we are continue to fight against discrimination and now the results are coming to fruition. I love this ad for so many reasons but mostly because I see myself in it. This video IS my life and many millions share and relate to the experiences this guy is having. The majority of Australian want gay marriage to be a reality and SOON!

Though September 20, 2011 may be remembered as much as a nonevent for the nation’s armed forces as it is a landmark day for equality, an official military memorandum on the end of DADT distributed Monday is striking nonetheless:

“From this day forward, gay and lesbian Soldiers may serve in our Army with the dignity and respect they deserve,” Secretary of the Army John M. McHugh and Army officials wrote. “For over 236 years, the U.S. Army has been an extraordinary force for good in the world. Our Soldiers are the most agile, adaptable and capable warriors in history — and we are ready for this change.”

Dear Readers,

After 3 long years, my precious and beloved dog Pickles finally arrived in New York from Sydney Australia after her two and a half day journey. When I saw my baby Pickles appear in the airport cargo arrival area, I ran to free her from her crate and scooped her up into my arms giving her a million kisses, not sure if she even remembered who I was. I can't explain in words how happy I was when I saw her for the first time since I left Australia. I was often sad when I remembered leaving Sydney and seeing her pretty little eyes staring at me as I was walking out the door as if to ask "Where are you going daddy"? I swear I thought she was saying this to me with her eyes. My heart was soooo broken when I left my baby in Sydney. I cried for hours on the plane.

But I know my dear readers are animal lovers so I don't have to explain those feelings between all of us and our children pets.

It was one of the best days of my life when we reunited , never to part again.

I love you Pickles.

UN Issues 'Historic' Resolution on Gay Rights Protection

GENEVA -- The United Nations endorsed the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender people for the first time ever Friday, passing a resolution hailed as historic by the U.S. and other backers and decried by some African and Muslim countries.

The declaration was cautiously worded, expressing "grave concern" about abuses because of sexual orientation and commissioning a global report on discrimination against gays.

But activists called it an important shift on an issue that has divided the global body for decades, and they credited the Obama administration's push for gay rights at home and abroad.

"This represents a historic moment to highlight the human rights abuses and violations that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people face around the world based solely on who they are and whom they love," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said in a statement.

Following tense negotiations, members of the Geneva-based U.N. Human Rights Council narrowly voted in favor of the declaration put forward by South Africa, with 23 votes in favor and 19 against.

Backers included the U.S., the European Union, Brazil and other Latin American countries. Those against included Russia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Pakistan. China, Burkina Faso and Zambia abstained, Kyrgyzstan didn't vote and Libya was suspended from the rights body earlier.

The resolution expressed "grave concern at acts of violence and discrimination, in all regions of the world, committed against individuals because of their sexual orientation and gender identity."

More important, activists said, it also established a formal U.N. process to document human rights abuses against gays, including discriminatory laws and acts of violence. According to Amnesty International, consensual same-sex relations are illegal in 76 countries worldwide, while harassment and discrimination are common in many more.

"Today's resolution breaks the silence that has been maintained for far too long," said John Fisher of the gay rights advocacy group ARC International.

The resolution calls for a panel discussion next spring with "constructive, informed and transparent dialogue on the issue of discriminatory laws and practices and acts of violence against" gays, lesbians and transgender people.

The prospect of having their laws scrutinized in this way went too far for many of the council's 47-member states.

"We are seriously concerned at the attempt to introduce to the United Nations some notions that have no legal foundation," said Zamir Akram, Pakistan's envoy to the U.N. in Geneva, speaking on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

Nigeria claimed the proposal went against the wishes of most Africans. A diplomat from the northwest African state of Mauritania called the resolution "an attempt to replace the natural rights of a human being with an unnatural right."

Boris Dittrich of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights program at Human Rights Watch said it was important for the U.S. and Western Europe to persuade South Africa to take the lead on the resolution so that other non-Western countries would be less able to claim the West was imposing its values.

At the same time, he noted that the U.N. has no enforcement mechanism to back up the resolution. "It's up to civil society to name and shame those governments that continue abuses," Dittrich said.

The Obama administration has been pushing for gay rights both domestically and internationally.

In March, the U.S. issued a nonbinding declaration in favor of gay rights that gained the support of more than 80 countries at the U.N. In addition, Congress recently repealed the ban on gays openly serving in the military, and the Obama administration said it would no longer defend the constitutionality of the U.S. law that bars federal recognition of same-sex marriage.

The vote in Geneva came at a momentous time for the gay rights debate in the U.S. Activists across the political spectrum were on edge Friday as New York legislators considered a bill that would make the state the sixth – and by far the biggest – to allow same-sex marriage.

Asked what good the U.N. resolution would do for gays and lesbians in countries that opposed the resolution, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Daniel Baer said it was a signal "that there are many people in the international community who stand with them and who support them, and that change will come."

"It's a historic method of tyranny to make you feel that you are alone," he said. "One of the things that this resolution does for people everywhere, particularly LGBT people everywhere, is remind them that they are not alone."

I certainty have not heard of him. Until today.

Rep. Steve Simon delivered an eloquent and inspired argument on why the House panel in Minnesota should vote against a proposal to amend the State constitution. The proposed amendment seeks to recognize only those marriages between a man and a woman.

Ask yourself, if it's true that sex orientation is innate, is God-given, then what does it mean to the moral force of your argument? To put it in the vernacular, what I would ask is, 'How many more people does God have to create before we ask ourselves whether or not God actually wants them around? How many gay people does God have to create before we ask ourselves whether the living of their lives the way they wish as long as they don't harm others is Godly, holy, happy, glorious thing?' I've answered that for myself. I don't think everyone's answered that for themselves necessarily in this room.

Equally brilliant and enlightened was the testimony delivered before the Minnesota Senate Judiciary Committee by Madeline Koch, a 24-year old Minnesota resident who is a "self-identifying Republican and straight."

Instead, I'm driven by something else: an ideology — one encouraged by my peers — that tells me this is not the direction our state or our nation should be headed. In fact, among members of my generation, there is no doubt that equal rights for all Minnesotans is absolutely necessary for the good of our state. In other words, it should not be up for debate or used to achieve political gain.

HOW TO BE ALONE by Tanya Davis

If you are at first lonely, be patient. If you've not been alone much, or if when you were, you weren't okay with it, then just wait. You'll find it's fine to be alone once you're embracing it.

We could start with the acceptable places, the bathroom, the coffee shop, the library. Where you can stall and read the paper, where you can get your caffeine fix and sit and stay there. Where you can browse the stacks and smell the books. You're not supposed to talk much anyway so it's safe there.

There's also the gym. If you're shy you could hang out with yourself in mirrors, you could put headphones in (guitar stroke).

And there's public transportation, because we all gotta go places.

And there's prayer and meditation. No one will think less if you're hanging with your breath seeking peace and salvation.

Start simple. Things you may have previously (electric guitar plucking) based on your avoid being alone principals.

The lunch counter. Where you will be surrounded by chow-downers. Employees who only have an hour and their spouses work across town and so they -- like you -- will be alone.

Resist the urge to hang out with your cell phone.

When you are comfortable with eat lunch and run, take yourself out for dinner. A restaurant with linen and silverware. You're no less intriguing a person when you're eating solo dessert to cleaning the whipped cream from the dish with your finger. In fact some people at full tables will wish they were where you were.

Go to the movies. Where it is dark and soothing. Alone in your seat amidst a fleeting community.
And then, take yourself out dancing to a club where no one knows you. Stand on the outside of the floor till the lights convince you more and more and the music shows you. Dance like no one's watching...because, they're probably not. And, if they are, assume it is with best of human intentions. The way bodies move genuinely to beats is, after all, gorgeous and affecting. Dance until you're sweating, and beads of perspiration remind you of life's best things, down your back like a brook of blessings.

Go to the woods alone, and the trees and squirrels will watch for you.
Go to an unfamiliar city, roam the streets, there're always statues to talk to and benches made for sitting give strangers a shared existence if only for a minute and these moments can be so uplifting and the conversations you get in by sitting alone on benches might've never happened had you not been there by yourself

Society is afraid of alonedom, like lonely hearts are wasting away in basements, like people must have problems if, after a while, nobody is dating them. but lonely is a freedom that breaths easy and weightless and lonely is healing if you make it.

You could stand, swathed by groups and mobs or hold hands with your partner, look both further and farther for the endless quest for company. But no one's in your head and by the time you translate your thoughts, some essence of them may be lost or perhaps it is just kept.

Perhaps in the interest of loving oneself, perhaps all those sappy slogans from preschool over to high school's groaning were tokens for holding the lonely at bay. Cuz if you're happy in your head than solitude is blessed and alone is okay.

It's okay if no one believes like you. All experience is unique, no one has the same synapses, can't think like you, for this be releived, keeps things interesting lifes magic things in reach.

And it doesn't mean you're not connected, that communitie's not present, just take the perspective you get from being one person in one head and feel the effects of it. take silence and respect it. if you have an art that needs a practice, stop neglecting it. if your family doesn't get you, or religious sect is not meant for you, don't obsess about it.

Dear Readers,

On February 27th 2011, I reached and celebrated my 10th year with HIV.

It’s been a while since I last updated my HIV/AIDS results page, which I guess some will take as a sign that all is well.

And you would be correct.

I’m happy and healthy today and full of positivity, humor, love and light.

I’ve never felt stronger nor have my feelings for the future ever been this inspiring. My family is wonderful and my relationship continues to bring the challenges and gifts that most do.

There are many reasons for my happiness, the most important one being that I restarted my ARV therapy and the results have been amazing. I was waiting for my drugs to take hold before I wrote about my experience. My virus was undetectable and had been for five years before I stopped taking my medication. A drug holiday made sense to me back then.

This is the second time I'm starting my therapy. I was nervous about side effects and my sleeping patterns being affected just as they were when I was on the ARVs. But this time, I had no problems with my body adjusting to the medication and the side effects were very light on my system.

I take my drugs every other day. I do not nor have I ever taken my HIV drugs every single day as we are told to do.

However, I DO NOT encourage you to do this without seeking your doctor's advise and consent. Everyone's circumstances are different and at the end of the day your doctors know best. But do mention it to him/her and ask if it's feasible in your situation, just like I did. When I mentioned it to my own doctor, he told me to do whatever I felt comfortable with as long as my numbers remained stable and my undetectable status stays the same. Taking my pills every other day DID NOT have an adverse effect on me. I've been taking my pills every other day for many months now and my HIV remains UNDETECTABLE.

I’ve always worried about the constant onslaught of HIV drugs on my system. Taking my drugs every other day was MY decision and I’m thrilled I made it. I withheld 1,477 pills from going into my body and yet I still managed to have my HIV undetectable status. My organs are thanking me I’m sure. I will need them all in tip top shape for the future!

When I started the combination therapy again, I remember obsessing, wondering, and asking myself, “Had I fucked up by stopping them when I moved from Australia to Canada?" HIV positive people hear stories all the time about how you’re NOT supposed to stop taking your pills. Back then, I really had to take control over my life and part of that was starting fresh with no worries about my drugs and keeping them cool while I travelled with my boyfriend.

My drug holiday meant taking away the daily reminder that you are indeed different than everyone else around you. You have HIV and the handful of pills remind you of that everyday you put them to your mouth.

It can get very distressing and depressing.

I nearly forgot that I have HIV while I was off my medication.
It was wonderful.
It was truly wonderful.

When I made the decision to stop them I said, “Fuck it”. I thought, at the time when my life was so hectic, that finding a fridge just to keep my medication chilled while I traveled throughout Asia would be a nightmare. I was tired, depressed and about to travel but my body was rock solid and I felt healthy despite my hectic life.

So I stopped taking my HIV drugs because I WANTED to stop.

I felt a need. A strange feeling, almost like I wanted control again over my life.

And the sense and feeling of being ‘undetectable’ certainly offers you that springboard you require to leap forward into a pill free existence, something that I thought at the time was manna from heaven.

I also WANTED to give my 150 pound body a break from the drugs I was on while I was still in my thirties. Sleeping was difficult with the medication the first time and I just needed to sleep so badly. I wanted to give myself a break from having to think about the pills.

Pills = HIV I thought.
And they still do. However, I feel different now about the medication than I did before I took a break from it.

Fuck HIV and the medication I remember thinking back then. But now, I feel great about them both being together once again.

One cancels out the other?
We all hope and pray.

I just want to be healthy and happy.

My pills are making me happy this time. Maybe it’s because I’m older and I don’t feel so brave. I need the security of being undetectable more now than ever. When you get married, things change dramatically inside of you. Suddenly you are not the only person who needs to be considered when it comes to your health, happiness, and future in general.

I’m still comfortable about having made those decisions to stop my medications before I came home to Canada. However, as a result of this decision, within a year after stopping my HIV drugs, my HIV virus was no longer undetectable as it had been five years. It was once again bombarding my system with great effect. And my CD4 count and viral load numbers reflected that. The first was very low and the second was very high. It really sucked. Fucking virus.

Mother fucker.

My fabulous ARV drug holiday bubble was suddenly burst and I was once again drenched in fear.

Although I'm ok with all of my HIV therapy decisions, I knew it was time that I start them again. When you are told that your virus is again detectable, your life is jolted back into your HIV reality. Your entire world shifts once again, and action MUST be taken immediately. You just feel it. You want to live.

For a long time.

And when the day comes and you are told that your virus is undetectable, you want to keep it that way.

For a long time.

And so I took action and now I'm back on my new ARV therapy. And once again after some time, my HIV is undetectable. It took eight months for my numbers to get back to normal. Now I have a solid set of results I can hopefully take forward with me for another five or so years.

I’ve recently had my eyes thoroughly checked by my ophthalmologist and the results came back with perfect 20/20 vision with no signs of trouble. I’ve also had my hearing checked, my teeth cleaned again (4X a year).

I somehow managed to stop biting my fingernails which was a life long habit. I NEVER thought I would ever stop biting my nails. But I did. It truly is amazing. One of the biggest achievements of my life and only a chronic nail biter would relate to the pain and suffering involved when one tries to stop such a habit.

My much adored mildly OCD afflicted papa lives in Kuwait and sent me a link to this amazing and very much terrifying footage that was taken during the all encompassing sandstorm (sand+OCD=OMFGNBD ) that blanketed Kuwait in a matter of minutes last Friday, leaving the entire population covered in dust and darkness.

Poor daddy is STILL cleaning his flat.

Just like the recent horribly destructive tsunamis, sandstorms can't be stopped by man or anything else for that matter once they take off.
Lately, it feels as though the earth is really pissed off at us for some reason.

We've treated our planet so terribly since we 'leased' it from the universe.

It's no wonder why it's freaking out!

This powerful clip is just another reminder (among many recent ones) that we as individuals, small groups or collective masses pale significantly against the immense power of the universe, mother nature and of course God.

And we all have to believe in at least one of them.

PUERTO PRINCESA, Philippines - For tourists the Philippine island of Palawan seems like paradise, but for environment activists it feels more akin to a battlefield.

Murders and threats on what is promoted as the Southeast Asian nation's last ecological frontier are emblematic of a struggle across the country, where dozens of environment campaigners have been killed over the past decade.

Father-of-five "Doc" Gerry Ortega became the latest casualty in late January when a hitman shot him in the head while browsing in a second-hand clothes shop along one of the main roads of Palawan's capital city, Puerto Princesa.

"He received a lot of death threats," Ortega's wife, Patty, 48, told AFP in an interview at a cafe just a few hundred metres from where he was killed.

The murdered Ortega, 47, a veterinarian, made many enemies via a daily radio morning show he hosted in which he lambasted politicians whom he accused of being corrupt and allowing the island's natural resources to be pillaged.

"He was a very passionate man, passionate about the environment," his widow said.

On the far western edge of the Philippines' archipelago, Palawan has some of the country's most beautiful beaches, stunning coral reefs and biodiverse forests -- it is home to two UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites.

But environment campaigners say Palawan's natural wonders could be destroyed within a generation amid the frenzy to exploit them, citing as an example the destruction of countless coral reefs from cyanide and dynamite fishing.

Its reefs supply more than half the nation's seafood, plus millions of dollars' worth of fish to other Asian markets.

Palawan also has vast amounts of nickel, cobalt and other valuable minerals, prompting hundreds of applications to mine about half of the island.

The applications have spurred a high-profile campaign to ban all forms of mining.

Meanwhile, 11 percent of the Philippines' remaining virgin forests and 38 percent of its mangroves are on Palawan, according to government data.

"From the post cards it's a great tourist area," Robert Chan, a crusading environmental lawyer and executive director of Palawan NGO Network Inc, told AFP from his rundown headquarters in Puerto Princesa.

"But if you talk about the resources that really mean something for biodiversity or medicines eventually for our future generations, if you talk about its old growth forests, if you talk about mangrove forests, if you talk about its coral reefs, were losing it."

While there are many laws to protect Palawan's natural resources, they are no match for the lawlessness and corruption that permeates all of Philippine society, according to environment campaigners and some politicians.

"The biggest obstacle really is the temptation of money from big industries and (those involved in) illegal activities," Edward Hagedorn, the long-time mayor of Puerto Princesa, told AFP.

Hagedorn, regarded by Palawan's environment activists as one of their most important political allies, has banned mining and logging in Puerto Princesa which, although a city, has huge tracts of forests and white sand beaches.

"Outside the city destruction is happening very fast," he said.

Hagedorn said powerful figures had often tried to bribe him to permit environmentally destructive practices, such as allowing truckloads of seafood that were illegally fished to be flown from his city's airport.

"You'll be surprised. Law enforcers, judges, come into my office (offering money and) asking for me to give them a chance" he said.

Environment campaigners say that, amid this chaos, they have to perform functions that government bodies and law enforcers should be doing, which often pushes them into very dangerous situations.

Attorney Chan, 43, said four environment activists from local communities he had worked with over the past decade had been murdered.

Chan and his colleagues train communities to resist destructive environment practices by filing law suits, but also to confiscate equipment such as chainsaws used for illegal logging and even boats used for illegal fishing.

Under Philippine law, citizens are allowed to seize equipment used in illegal activities and arrest those involved.

Over the past 10 years, Chan said he, his colleagues and the communities they worked with had seized more than 360 chainsaws, two large ships, about 20 small outrigger boats and rifles.

But the successes are tempered by a sense of danger.

Chan, who is married and has a young daughter, recounted losing an activist in 2006 who had been working to oppose illegal logging and the cutting down of mangroves in his community.

"We found him in a shallow grave in a beach. He had been specifically buried there for us to find him," said Chan.

"His testicles were taken off, put into his mouth, his tongue was cut out, his eyes were gouged out, his fingernails were taken out, he had around 16 stab wounds."

Abdelwin Sangkula, another Puerto Princesa-based campaigner, said he had also received many death threats over the past few years.

"I'm worried about my safety and the safety of my family. But I will continue with my fight, said Sangkula, 39, who has three children and was a regular guest on the murdered Ortega's radio show.

"I don't know whether it's just in my blood, but I see injustice and unfairness with what's happening in this province."

Abraham Mitra, the governor of Palawan who is also chairman of the province's sustainable development council, did not respond to requests by AFP for comment on the allegations made by the environment campaigners.

The development council has run full-page advertisements in national papers recently rejecting claims that the local environment is being destroyed, and insisting that mining applications are being approved in a responsible manner.

In the case of Ortega, the accused gunman and four other people alleged to have been involved in the killing have been arrested.

His widow has filed documents with the justice department accusing a powerful local politician of masterminding the murder.

The politician, who has not been arrested, has gone on national television to deny any link to Ortega's killing. Police investigations are ongoing.

OUTRAGE- Pinoy HIV Pos Artist Banned

MANILA, Philippines - Renowned theater director and artist Marcelino "Mars" Cavestany, a naturalized Australian citizen, cried foul after he was not allowed to enter the Philippines on March 6.

Cavestany was blacklisted by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for being HIV positive.

He arrived last March 6 at 9:30 p.m. from Darwin, Australia but was accosted by immigration agents who disallowed him from exiting the terminal.

Cavestany was shown the blacklist order, which specified that he should not be allowed entry as he will spread HIV.

He decried being treated "like a criminal" and for not being informed about the order.

The immigration order was issued on March 10, 2010 by then Commissioner Marcelino Libanan as requested by the office of Malou Jacob of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

Cavestany said the request of the NCCA is purely a case of harassment.

He said he previously got into a fight with Susan Claudio, a staff of the NCCA, which may have prompted NCCA's request for the blacklist order.

Cavestany, a former Filipino citizen, flew to the Philippines for a business trip as he was invited to do a film and write a book about HIV.

A staunch advocate against HIV, Cavestany helps educate the public about the bad effects of AIDS.

Cavestany is active in theater, having been Artistic Director of Dulaang Bayan and founder of Philippine Education Theatre Arts League Sydney (PETALS).

In 2005, he staged the one-man play "Peregrination: Unzipped, Unmasked, Unbound."

He also acted in the films "A Dangerous Life" (1988) and "The Great Raid" (2005).

Cavestany challenged the immigration bureau to lift the ban as it shows discrimination and violation of human rights.

He is contemplating on filing charges against the immigration officers who accosted him.

David Kato, Uganda Gay Activist, Brutally Slain

KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) — A prominent Ugandan gay rights activist whose picture was published by an anti-gay newspaper next to the words "Hang Them" was bludgeoned to death. Police said Thursday his sexual orientation had nothing to do with the killing and that one "robber" had been arrested.

Activists were outraged over the death of David Kato, an advocacy officer for the gay rights group Sexual Minorities Uganda. His slaying comes after a year of stepped up threats against gays in Uganda, where a controversial bill has proposed the death penalty for some homosexual acts.

Kato, who had received multiple threats, was found with serious wounds to his head caused by an attack with a hammer at his home late Wednesday in Uganda's capital, Kampala. Kato later died on the way to the hospital.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said. "We urge Ugandan authorities to quickly and thoroughly investigate and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act. David Kato tirelessly devoted himself to improving the lives of others.

Human Rights Watch called for an urgent investigation, saying that Kato's work as a prominent gay rights campaigner had previously seen him face threats to his personal safety.

"David Kato's death is a tragic loss to the human rights community," said Maria Burnett, senior Africa researcher at HRW. "David had faced the increased threats ... bravely and will be sorely missed."

A Ugandan tabloid newspaper called Rolling Stone listed a number of men they said were homosexuals last year, including Kato. Kato's picture was published on the front page, along with his name and a headline that said "Hang Them."

WASHINGTON -- The Senate voted 63-33 on Saturday to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell, defeating a 17-year policy of banning gay and lesbian service members from serving openly in the military.

Five Republicans crossed the aisle to vote against the policy: Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Scott Brown (R-Mass.), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and George Voinovich (R-Ohio).

The Senate vote is a vindication of Obama's decision to push for congressional repeal as opposed to unilateral executive action, though activists note he could have done both. The Senate will make a final vote on ending the policy at 3 p.m.

"The important thing today is that 63 senators were on the right side of history," Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign, told HuffPost, adding he sees the bill as a "stepping stone to further advances for the gay and lesbian community."

Its been a year since my first participation on Headshot Clinic and I first experience it with One Youth. Then from that campaign it led me to the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) MOVE Campaign. It was a very brief moment that I don't even care about what really is the meaning of the project. And I hate to admit it, it takes me a year to finally realize the essence of this advocacy.

For almost 3 years, HSC became the bridge of people which are used as an outlet of information to further strengthen the awareness on HIV and AIDS among people. People may say that they already know all they need to know about this condition (not a disease) but still everyday the number of HIV victims grow. Before, we become AWARE and some people practically became scared of it then people like Niccolo and others start to MOVE forward with their effort to awaken the dying advocacy against HIV and AIDS and finally its time to ACT to make all this visions come into fruition.

Pope Benedict XVI has opened the door on the previously taboo subject of condoms as a way to fight HIV, saying male prostitutes who use condoms may be beginning to act responsibly. It's a stunning comment for a pontiff who has blamed condoms for making the AIDS crisis worse.

The pope made the comments in an interview with a German journalist published as a book entitled "Light of the World: The Pope, the Church and the Signs of the Times," which is being released Tuesday. The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano ran excerpts on Saturday.

Church teaching has long opposed condoms because they are a form of artificial contraception, although the Vatican has never released an explicit policy about condoms and HIV. The Vatican has been harshly criticized for its position.

This guy and his organization are the worst sexual offenders on earth. In addition thier rediculous attitude towards birth control is causing over population in third world countries. Look at the catholic Philippines, their popluation has increased over 30 MILLION people since 1990. This irresponsible leader of so many people should be ashamed of what he is convincing the catholics to believe. Humphrey Gorriceta Blazes the Awareness Trail

Humphrey Gorriceta is one of the first Filipinos to publicly reveal his HIV-positive status after he was diagnosed in January 2008 while working as an operations supervisor in a business process outsourcing company in Manila.
Humphrey Gorriceta: "After disclosing to my family, everything changed for the better. I felt the bond of love and caring was strengthened. I started saying 'I love you' to my parents and siblings, which I felt uncomfortable doing before I came out."
The 34-year-old says based on personal experience “people are more accepting when they are HIV literate” and so, he has made it his life’s mission to educate his family, friends, people he meets in his daily life and people he has yet to meet about HIV.
Humphrey recalled an incident where he tested positive during a drug test when he tried to renew his driver’s licence. When he was asked by the nurse to come back after a week as they were going to send his urine sample to the Department of Health, he decided to explain his HIV status and conducted an ART (Anti-Retroviral treatment) 101 on the spot with his mom, medical technician, nurse and doctor in attendance to account for the false positive. He got his driver’s licence in an hour.
“People discriminate because of their lack of knowledge about HIV. It’s human nature to be afraid of what we don’t know. That is why HIV educational advocacies are very important.” Said the spokesperson for the National Federation of Filipino Living with HIV and AIDS (NAFFWA) which represents PLHIV (People Living with HIV/AIDS) community-based groups in Philippines.

For more than six years, the directions for making Late Night Bacon sat unnoticed in a forgotten corner of the Food Network’s Web site. Yesterday, an Internet spelunker at Reddit noticed the recipe. As you can imagine, the expiration date for puckish amusement has not yet passed. Outrageous Japanese Worship Holograph Superstar

In what is surely a terrible omen not only for musicians but also the continued existence of the world as we know it, holographs are now playing sold out concerts in, where else, Japan.

Holographic idol Hatsune Miku is the creation of the group Crypton Future Media, using software from Vocaloid, and the group has put the avatar on tour with a live band. The sight of thous,ands of screaming fans waving glow sticks while the the holograph "performs" on stage is straight out of a science fiction novel.

I was really enraged when I have read this note on The Philippine Animal (PAWS) Welfare Society (PAWS) which was posted by another member. It is about their dear little kitty who was brutally murdered by some demented boy. The little kitty was really a stray but it was being cared for by the guard, students and faculty of the UP National Institute of Physics Building (NIP). She was so loved by many that they were aghast to see her little body lifeless. Apparently, somebody threw her out in the air wrestling style then took a running start to finally stomp the kitten in the torso. It was a wonder the kitten was not squished to death right there and then. It was so gruesome, so uncalled for, so demented that everybody was so sadden and mad about this issue. And what's more blood boiling is the fact that this devil was so proud and happy of what he has done! No remorse what so ever! And he even boasted of killing another kitty in the future! Why do we know this? He posted the damn thing in his blog in multiply! Unfortunately, due to the now numerous comments that has been made, the appalling post has been made private but not without me getting some screen shots and getting a copy of his post first!

4th Epic Fail: An Accidental Crime.

First day sa supercon. Lunch time came. On our way out of old NIP I saw the cat I almost killed last Tuesday. Now everyone knows I hate cats. It's an unexplainable feeling towards them. Like some internal hatred. Hindi ko talaga alam kung bakit pero anumang pagpipigil sa sarili ay hindi sapat upang mapangibabawan ang panggigil ko sa mga pusa. I pulled it on its tail and threw it. Then like some pro wrestler I jumped on it and my feet landed on it's torso. Slam! Felt good! But the cat didn't die, well not yet. It ran for it's life and just as I was about to catch up on it somebody yelled: "Pwede bang pabayaan mo yung pusa?!". It was instant and involuntary. I stopped on my tracks. Nobody ever stopped me when assaulting cats. Well I guess there's always a first time for everything. The cat got away. Or at least that's what i thought. So we went to lunch Mel, Jayson, Tracy and me. After lunch, balik na sa kung anumang naiwang gawain. Then Tracy and Mel told me " Hui Jc napatay mo yung pusa". Hours later, habang abala sa XRD, a guy came in. Tanong niya: "Sinong pumatay dun sa pusa?" Bang! Dat was me boi. Guilty as charged. I didn't see it die pero sabi ni Myles it coughed up blood or at least something like that daw. Didn't realize I gave it a fatal hit. This isn't the first time I've killed a cat but this time it's different. It didn't occur to me back then that the cat had a leash. So I think somebody owns it. Well it's very well loved in NIP from what I heard and I just ended it's life.

So there you go I'm sorry. And I wont be striking another one for maybe about a month. It feels good when your beating it(a cat) up but you suddenly feel something strange when it turns off permanently. That's how I feel right now. And maybe for the next days. Dang, am I a cat serial killer?

I can feel my skin crawl.

How can someone do something like that to a defenseless little being is beyond me. I was so angry that I called him names; even told him to kill himself because the Philippine doesn't need another pabigat. But calling him names won't stop his deeds and me, together with some members of PAWS, are now in a quest to stop this psycho. Yeah, psycho. Hinde matino ang pag-iisip ng mga taong ganito. And it is such a known fact that seriel killers start their career by killing small animals first. Will we wait for him to turn into one?

For now we are pursuing him. We want him jailed. I am so thankful and happy that there is really a law that we can exercise to stop this psycho: The Animal Right Bill 8485. As of press time, a lot of people are already involved. Even people from the US are already getting involved. We have already contacted PAWS, The Animal Welfare Coalition and Care and Responsibility for Animals (CARA). Someone already wrote to the Chancellor of UP (yeah, dungis!) to have him expelled. Angel, the original poster of the note, has already talked with the witnesses and will talk to the faculty who are willing to file a case against this guy. We are also compiling more information about him to make the case stronger. PAWS has told us we can use their lawyers.

Now what we further do? Spread the word! Let it be known to many what kind of person he is so that many will be aware of his demonic acts! Repost his blog post and photos. Spread his friendster profile, which by the way is http://profiles.friendster.com/10632111.

Guys, he needs to pay and learn his lesson! Let's all be united in this. last night, I could not sleep because I was really disturbed by this incident. I took my kitten Whitie to bed with us. The same Whitie who I looked for day and night - at my neighbor's abandoned house, at our rooftop, and everywhere I can possibly think of - when her mother hid her from us because we are always cuddling her. Anyway, i kept waking up to check if she is alright in my thigh sleeping soundly. I kept imagining the kitten getting squashed to death and sometimes imagining it was Whitie getting the fatal hit. I hate this guy to pieces and I won't rest until he gets what he deserves. I pray to God that he will be the last cat killer I encounter.

Canberra Raiders officials are investigating an incident featuring representative star Joel Monaghan photographed in a sex act with a dog.

A photograph has emerged of Canberra Raiders star, Joel Monaghan, appearing to engage in a sex act with a dog.

CANBERRA representative star Joel Monaghan faces the sack after admitting to a simulated sex act with a teammate's dog that was photographed and posted on Twitter.

As photos of the drunken Mad Monday "prank" sparked widespread condemnation, a distressed Monaghan last night issued a statement through his manager Jim Banaghan in which he apologised for "a moment of abject stupidity" and conceded "there must be ramifications".

Bizarrely, Monaghan said he was "playing a prank on an absent teammate". The incident occurred that weekend during a party for Canberra players and friends, and the labrador involved is understood to belong to a teammate of Monaghan's.

More than one photo was taken as a camera can be seen in the images that were widely circulated on the internet yesterday. Whether any other Raiders players are under investigation was unclear last night, but Monaghan's career hangs firmly in the balance after NRL chief executive David Gallop warned Canberra officials they were expected to take appropriate action.

"We have a system of allowing clubs to take the initial action in relation to disciplinary issues as they are the employers and we will maintain that principle," Gallop said. "The fact of the matter remains that in any circumstance this is an appalling incident and one that has offended everyone associated with the sport. It is important that the club deals with it appropriately and that it reports to the NRL as soon as possible on the outcomes."

Initially, it was suggested to the Herald that Monaghan was the victim of a prank by teammates after passing out while drunk but he later accepted full responsibility for his action in the statement issued through Banaghan. "Joel can't blame anyone but himself for an act of stupidity that will haunt him for the rest of his life," Banaghan said. "'Joel wants to make it clear that he was the one playing a prank on an absent teammate by simulating the act. There are no words of explanation that can be offered because none can be appropriate. Joel has to now face his family as well as fans and supporters with that shame and has already undergone counseling to help him cope with the consequences of what has happened.

"It was a moment of abject stupidity brought about by too much drink and a complete lack of any thought process. The fact that someone has sought to compound the situation further by the use of social media only adds to the trauma but Joel accepts that it is his actions alone that are at fault. He apologises unreservedly for the outrage that people feel at the moment, and blames nobody but himself."

While photos of the incident have been circulating for some time in Canberra, they received massive exposure yesterday after being posted on Twitter the previous night. Last night, the issue was listed as the 10th most popular subject on Twitter worldwide.

Australia's youngest Federal MP, Wyatt Roy also became embroiled in the controversy after it was revealed the photos had been sent to media identities, including Triple M's Mark Geyer and News Ltd columnist Andrew Bolt, from a fake account in Roy's name. Roy's spokeswoman Amanda Templeton told the Herald the 20-year-old Queensland politician was unaware someone else was using his name on Twitter, and he did not know about the photos.

The fake Wyatt Roy last night posted on Twitter: "This account is in no way linked to the real Wyatt Roy MP, Federal member for Longman. Its a fake/parody account. Twitter is full of them."

He also claimed to possess other photos of Monaghan and to have previously contacted the Raiders. Raiders chief Don Furner, at a launch for the club's 2011 membership drive, said he had not seen the photos but was investigating. "I think it's a great example of why you shouldn't be out drinking and having these big drinking sessions … because stupid things happen and people are left with regrettable situations like this."

University students now see nothing wrong with showing friendship to another man through a kiss on the lips.

Heterosexual male students are more comfortable kissing their friends than ever before, researchers say.

Researchers at the University of Bath found that 89 per cent of white undergraduate men at two UK universities and one sixth form college said they were happy to kiss another man on the lips through friendship.

They found that 36 per cent of respondents had also engaged in sustained kissing, initially for shock value, but now they occurred just for "a laugh".

Daniel Eagles, an undergraduate at University of Bath, said he did not have a problem with kissing his male friends.

He said: "I am comfortable to kiss my friends in situations such as their birthday or when someone scored a goal or just if we are having a laugh.

"Physical contact with your friends helps to bring you closer. I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for more than a year and she doesn't think anything of it when I kiss my guy friends."

Dr Eric Anderson, from the university's department of education, said: "Heterosexual men kissing each other in friendship is an offshoot of what happens when homophobia is reduced.

"At these universities, overt homophobia has reduced to near extinction, permitting those men to engage in behaviour that was once taboo.

"Men are kissing each other in university clubs and pubs, in front of their peers, and for many it serves as an occasional, exuberant greeting or banter when partying.

"The kiss is a sign of affection in student social spaces, a sign of victory on the pitch, or celebration at a nightclub but it does not have a sexual connotation in any of these spaces.

"It seems generally younger people are becoming more and more open minded with each generation."

PhD sociology student Adi Adams, who helped Dr Anderson with the research, said: "We noticed that more and more men were kissing each other in clubs or after scoring a goal as a form of celebration, and many would put pictures of themselves kissing their friends on Facebook.

"We then began our research and realised that the way men tell each other that one has made it into their circle of close friends is to kiss.

"In this respect, men are catching up with women who regularly use a kiss as a sign of affection to a female friend."

Adi, who is heterosexual, added: "My first experience of kissing a man was at uni and I was a bit taken aback, but now it feels like a normal act of friendship.

"It doesn't feel that it threatens my masculinity or heterosexuality - instead it is becoming part of acceptable masculinity and heterosexuality."

Dr Anderson's research is published online in the journal, Archives of Sexual Behaviour.

He is now expanding his research to see how these attitudes are affected by race and social class.

Straight Brit Boys Can't Stop Kissing Each Other

In a new study done by a sociologist at Bath University,

89% of straight-identifying high school and university boys said they had kissed male friends. 37% had experienced "sustained" kissing with male friends. What the bloody 'ell is going on?

Well, oddly enough, credit sport for inciting the trend.

The trend toward male same-sex smooches has skyrocketed in recent years, [researcher Eric] Anderson said. It began on the professional soccer field, where players often share exuberate kisses after goals. That made kissing between men acceptable for college and high-school players, Anderson said. Then the players took the same behaviors to nights out in pubs, spreading the trend to non-athletes.

Despite stereotypes of the homophobic jock, athletes were more likely to have kissed another man than non-athletes. Just over 80 percent of non-athletes had kissed a man, compared with 95 percent of athletes.

Of the guys in the study who hadn't shared a same-sex kiss, all found the practice acceptable. One student who had never kissed another lad joked with the researchers that when he told his friends about the study, they'd probably ensure that his classification changed. That night, Anderson received a text from the student reading, "I'm in the majority now."

So here's the deal, gay teen boys living in America. You know where it apparently gets better, really quickly? Britain. Tell your dad to take that job transfer! Find a summer school in London! Facebook Tackles Hate Speech and Homophobia

NEW YORK — Facebook is working with a gay-advocacy group to reduce the amount of hate speech and bullying on the online social hub.

Anti-gay bullying has been in the spotlight recently after the suicides of several gay teenagers, including Rutgers freshman Tyler Clementi, garnered national attention. According to police, the 19-year-old jumped off the George Washington Bridge after his roommate secretly recorded him with another male student and distributed video online.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said it reached out to Facebook last week after Internet bullies flooded a page set up to honor teens who recently killed themselves in response to anti-gay hate. - HP

Enough ranting. Now for my story....

Before this fashion blogger from the Philippines was hosted by fashion brands and had a Marc Jacobs bag named after him, he had to position himself in cyberspace society and shop until his friends dropped him.

Like Bernie Madoff and Ken Starr, he used other people's money. Maybe he still does!!!

Like many of us, the Boy doesn't carry cash and always uses credit cards but the cards are not (quite) his. They could be yours, though.
He manages to use numerous credit cards under different names and has even blackmailed someone into paying for his first trip to Australian Fashion Week because the organizers weren't willing to fork over the cost for him to go down under.

He is a member of creditboards.com, a site for people with bad credit or those who want to acquire credit without collateral or a job. Or rich parents. He was active in one forum on "Getting a Sears credit card..." Last time I checked, there ain't no Lanvin at Sears. Maybe HnM.

Like Bernie Madoff and Ken Starr at the height of their popularity and wealth, he is sought after.

BBbbut things didn't start off that way...
He anonymously started a local Philippine gossip site called chikatime.com, got caught and had to close it down due to insistent public demand, insults and lawsuits that were hurled at him. Also "due to insistent public demand," Nokia pulled out of an advertising campaign. He was removed from the Philippine edition of Project Runway before its first season was ovah!

If that's not last season enough....

Unlike Bernie Madoff and Ken Starr, he is not smart enough to manipulate funds to finance multiple homes, yachts, art, jewels and dodgy investments. He merely spends on bags, shoes and incidental travel. Okay, small time. (If you steal, wouldn't you have to steal big 'because you're worth it?" How you gonna "sweat glitter?")

You would think he would want a lot more because of where he came from. I guess his Momma didn't teach him that you have to reach for the moon because if you miss it, at least you'll end up with stars.
(Mind you, I admire people who have no education and manage to go from rags to riches through hard work and not credit card scamming. After all, it is the success story of many immigrant familes)

He may have Globe Trotter luggage but a globe trotter and fashion connoisseur he is not.

His family is so far from rich that they not only live in the outskirts of Manila but in one of the poorest outskirts of the Philippine capital--think close to homeless, probably without a proper address. The Philippines is 80% poor and he falls into that category. And this is not 'a good look.'

The Boy is so poor that he lives in a shack made of aluminum siding (if it has not been washed away by recent floods) near the national maximum security prison.

His sister was so happy when she got an internship at a local radio station because they had a food allowance. Apparently, in their household, they have no money for food.

But they have LOTS of handbags. So how does he finance la vida nada?
