Obama VS McCain

Republican John McCain

Democrat Barack Obama

Dear Readers,

Here are some differences between the two candidates for the up coming American Presidential election.
Can you guess who I'd be voting for?
Hahahahaha.
YES! Obama of course.
I have Obama fever.
Thank you to the wonderful reader who sent this in.
I believe some quotes are from Glamour magazine which I find hilarious.
I love my readers.
Last week 156,000 people read the blog.
THANK YOU!
Hugs.

1) BETTER PAY FOR MEN AND WOMEN:

McCain opposed the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which would have made it easier for women to sue their employers for paying them less than men doing similar work; his campaign said the bill would lead to " a swarm of new lawsuits"

Obama voted for the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act; Cosponsored another bill that would require employers to disclose their pay scales; his rationale is that by doing so, it would help women more easily determine whether they are being discriminated against

2) FIGHTING GLOBAL WARMING:

McCain would cut greenhouse gas emissions 60 percent by 2050; spend $2 billion a year on clean coal; develop nuclear power

Obama would cut greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050; invest $150 billion over 10 years in clean energy; get 25 percent of US electricity from solar, wind, and geothermal sources by 2025

3) PULLING TROOPS FROM IRAQ:

McCain would keep US troops until Iraq can self govern themselves, but aim to withdraw by 2013..........

Obama will begin pulling US troops out of Iraq immediately; withdraw nearly all forces by summer of 2010

4) HEALTH CARE FOR THE UNINSURED:

McCain will provide a health insurance tax credit ($2500 for individuals, $5000 for families) ; those without employer based insurance could use it to buy their own. People who keep their employers plan would now be taxed on it; he'd urge states to help cover high risk patients

Obama will mandate that all employers (except small businesses) provide insurance to workers or contribute to a new national health care plan that uninsured Americans can buy on a sliding scale; Require every child under 18 to have insurance; No one would be turned down because of medical history

5) OVERTURNING ROE VS WADE: (AKA women's reproductive health, which is an issue in the Philippines right now as well)

McCain has consistently voted against CHOICE in his 25 year congressional career; might nominate Supreme Court justices who would reverse Roe vs Wade, which would make abortion illegal in the US

Obama would likely nominate justices who would protect reproductive rights; Would not oppose partial birth abortion bans as long as they include a health exception for women

6) LOWERING GAS PRICES:

McCain will lift bans on offshore drilling in US waters; encourage domestic oil and gas production; proposed a gas tax holiday to temporarily lift the 18.4 cent federal excise tax at the pump

Obama has backed a compromise to allow limited offshore drilling in exchange for encouraging alternative energy and more fuel efficient cars; would levy a tax on oil companies; opposed gas tax holiday

And there you have it in a nutshell.
