Dear readers,
I was very honored to be a judge at this years Canada's Prettiest Filipina Competition. I LOVED the judging and speaking with the beautiful contestants. I look forward to judging more Filipino Pageants and Talent contests in the future. They really are very special. And it's so much fun!
The Pageant - Canada's Prettiest Filipinas
It was noted in the past that Canada's strategy of sending delegates in International beauty pageants is picking a representative with international appeal. This means that IPEN have been sending representatives who possess beauty of the face, figure and most of all, outstanding personality as well.
This year, the International Professional Network, also known as IPEN, will be holding the very first Canada ’s Prettiest Filipinas. The pageant aims to select Filipina women who are beautiful inside and out. Pageant organizer Edgar Sulit, Executive Director of IPEN, was asked in a recent interview how the winner will be selected. According to Mr. Sulit, “The Prettiest Filipina should show courage and perseverance and should be a role model to everyone, not just to Filipinos. She will be the Ambassadress of Goodwill…”
The winner of Canada ’s Prettiest Filipina will represent the Filipino Community of Canada in local and international beauty pageants. She will also promote and support IPEN’s charitable projects.
Celebrity Guest Judge
Brian Gorrell is expected to grace the pageant as a special guest. It can be recalled that Mr. Gorell has championed the cause of underdog Pinoys early this year (March 2008) when he started his blog exposing anomalies and deceptions in Manila ’s high society. His blog has been phenomenal reaching almost 2 million hits weeks after it was launched. In July of 2008, Mr. Gorrell has moved back in his local Canada after spending years in his farm in Australia . His presence on the coronation night is expected to draw crowds as he has gained a huge following amongst Filipino communities here and abroad.
The coronation night is slated on October 4, 2008 at the George Ignattief Theatre, 15 Devonshire Place , Toronto.
